Buy a T-Shirt

Our shirts really raise eyebrows. You wouldn’t believe people’s reactions. “You do what?” Not only is it a cool way to get people asking questions, it’s a great way to support what we’re doing.

Buy cool vinyl for $10
Purchase a vinyl decal (transparent background premium sticker) for your laptop, car or private luxury liner. One look at this great-looking, long-lasting “I Hack Charities” decal will have folks asking the perfect question: “you do what?” Not only will you help us get the word out, but your purchase is a full-on donation, enabling us to keep doing what we’re doing. Click here to check out our page at TrixGraphix.com, and be sure to check out the rest of their awesome work, including the Bujinkan and “Hacker” symbols shown on Johnny’s laptop over yonder.

Buy a book, feed a child.

I’m proud to announce the release of No Tech Hacking from Syngress Publishing! I’m even more happy to announce that 100% of the proceeds will be going to charity. In fact, each purchase through this Amazon link will feed an African child for one month!

picture-2.png My proceeds from this book are going to AOET (aoet.org), an organization that provides food, education and medical care to children left in the wake of Africa’s HIV/AIDS epidemic. More than an aid organization, AOET aims to disrupt the cycle of poverty and hopelessness in sub-Saharan Africa through empowerment programs and job training, enabling children and adults to be self-sustaining, restoring not only their health but their pride and hope for a brighter future. A single book purchase made through my Amazon associates account (linked from any of my websites, or by clicking on this link) will generate enough income for AOET to feed a child for an entire month.Other retail purchases (which generate half as much income) will provide either medical services or educational supplies and funding for a single child through a donation pool set aside for those purposes.

Participate in our Amazon purchase program.
Every link to Amazon from this site (including this one) is loaded with our “tag” (ihackstuff-20). After clicking on any one of them you will be whisked away to Amazon.com, and this tag goes along for the ride. Any purchase you make from Amazon during that browser session will (should) have our tag associated with it. I’m not at all sure how to verify that, but you get the idea. So, if you click on the Google book, but buy a refrigerator instead, all the proceeds from the fridge go to charity. If you plan on buying things from Amazon, consider clicking through to Amazon from our site first. It won’t cost you a cent. You’ll still get Amazon’s great price, and you’ll be supporting those in need. Here’s our cool Amazon-widgety thingum:

Send Gear or Swag.
We’re currently collecting gear and swag. You can mail us the following WORKING items (no broken bits) which we’ll often mail or carry to far off places like Africa:

  • laptops (fully working, preferably running a Windows OS)
  • handhelds (PDAs, etc)
  • cellular phones (tri or quad-band, no SIM needed)
  • network gear (wireless cards and routers, hubs/switches, etc)
  • external storage (USB flash, external USB/firewire)
  • digital cameras (any age really)
  • radios (FRS, HAM, etc)
  • memory cards (Compact Flash, SD, etc)
  • cleaning brushes (including portable vacuums)
  • laptop security items (cables, locks, hardware)
  • NEW (unscratched) blank CD/DVD media
  • NEW power strips (110v / 220v)
  • NEW mice (USB or PS/2)
  • (new, or hardly used WORKING) pens, pencils and conference bags

These items can be shipped to several donation points, but currently our best central address is “Hackers For Charity,” PO BOX 403, Ellicott City MD, 21041.

We may also be able to help you find someone who can use heavier items, although we will hardly ever take these in the mail. These items include: desktops, servers, workstations, CRT monitors and laser printers. As a rule of thumb, if you might pull something picking it up, it’s probably too expensive to ship to us. If you work for an organization that’s looking to offload a good amount of old equipment like this please drop us a line letting us know where you are and what you’ve got and we’ll try to connect you with someone in your local area that may be able to use your equipment.

Although we are beginning to operate on local levels, most of this equipment is being send to charities in underdeveloped countries. Fill out the form below, and we’ll send you more info.

Consider Corporate Sponsorship.
Consider offering your corporation’s goods or services to our cause. An operation like this one requires lots of things. Your financing and assistance can help make that happen. Financing is a big part of this. Our growth accelerates based on two things: buzz and money. We’re getting decent press.

Donate to our cause.
Our overhead is so insanely low because we operate on donations. Our servers and bandwidth are donated, and our volunteers are… volunteers (which means they work for free). Still, there are expenses. For starters, we need funds to pack and ship equipment. We also spent a pittance on marketing to help us get the word out. Consider a small donation to help us along. Our 501c3 status is in processing, so we’re unable to make you donation tax deductible right now, but we’re tracking donations in case our status clears before the end of the year. If that happens, and you’re interested in a tax deduction, please let us know.
